Resolving Conflict: Educating For Peace
Support Us
Running costs are given to the Project by local Quakers in the West Midlands including Trusts and individuals. This covers both the staff salaries and the costs associated with the office base in Edgbaston.
Work in schools and for other organisations is funded separately. Fees for the professional education workers have to be covered by charging schools directly or by helping schools to find other sources of funding.
Schools, often in areas where the work is most needed, can find it very difficult to find the full cost of the work which can be over £6000 for a large primary school. The Project Manager raises funds from trusts to ensure that bursary funds are available as and when schools may need them.
Every effort is made to make sure that schools and others are never discouraged from approaching the Project and the Project Manager will always be happy to advise.
The Project is always glad to hear from individuals, groups or grant-making bodies who would like to offer financial help to WMQPEP.
Cheques should be made payable to: WMQPEP and posted to Friends Meeting House, St James Road, Birmingham, B15 1JP. To maximise the effect of your giving, if you are a UK taxpayer, please contact us for a gift aid form.
How we can help
We run workshops with year groups 5 or 6 on peacemaker themes. We can train groups of students to be Peer Mediators. We train staff on the principles of creative conflict resolution. Options include:
- 10 week Peacemaker courses
- 2 day Peer Mediator training
- Inset days on conflict resolution skills
and we offer bursaries to help with the costs of the training. Contact us for more information on how we can help your school.
